Fall into Fall with Flair and Zva Creative!

by Lyn Bernatovich on September 20, 2012

Hi everyone and welcome to another day of Fall into Fall with Flair using Zva Creative bling!  Today’s project actually begins with a toilet paper holder that morphs into a vase for the flowers.  It is glued to a 2-1/2″ square chip board base for stability.  I tossed some flat marbles into the tube to give it some weight before stuffing the crimped kraft strips that I saved from previous packaging.  All the papers are from Bo Bunny Weekend Market collection.

Details within this project begins with the diecut pumpkin from Memory Box.  To create lots of 3d effects, every layer is mounted with foam tape.  The smallest pumpkin has the fattest foam pop dot to really make it stand out.  The Memory Box picket fence is diecut using chip board and stained with Ranger Distress Stains.  The grass is a Martha Stewart border punch in two rows and slightly sanded.  Some sanding was done on the smaller pumpkins from Unity Stamps.  They didn’t need much as the Zva Creative gem flourishes would bling them right up!

To add shabbiness to the stem of the large pumpkin, I laid two small lengths of seam binding together and dropped a dab of hot glue in the center and folded both lengths in half.

I gave the folded end a little twist to really affix them all together and stuck it to the stem of the pumpkin.

Leaves were hand cut, wrinkled (bottom) and sanded (top) and foam taped on.

To fill in the ribbon and leaf stem area, I added a button threaded with raffia and tied in a bow behind the button.

To thin out thick pieces of raffia, just take a pin or the pointy end of scissors and score along the thick section.  The raffia will split into tiny, soft threads!

When all 3 items are completed, just hot glue the little cluster altogether and affix on the stem.

To make the flowers, cut 3″ squares of various papers and hand tear 3 at a time into circles.  Separately tear 2 of them into smaller circles so all three circles nest.  It is totally okay to have wonky circles!

Insert a brad through all 3 flowers and then scrunch each layer!

Affix the flowers to sticks with hot glue and then affix the banner leaf stems.  Hand cut 2 layers of burlap and affix to the back of the flower for a finished look.

The sentiment was punched from a favorite Memory Box stamp and also hot glued onto a stick.

Here’s a side view of the project to see how everything was assembled:

Pattern paper was glued with Modg Podg and wrapped around the tube.  The 2-1/2″ square was covered with pattern paper on both sides.  The pumpkin focal point was glued last.  Notice it is ‘leaning’ from the front edge of the 2-1/2″ square and onto the tube and is affixed with hot glue.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and tutorial!  To think I had only two things inspiring this project…the Zva Creative bling and a toilet paper roll!

Happy paper crafting!

Lyn
