Dreamweaver Tutorial: Sparkly Fluff Embossing

by Susanna on September 13, 2012

Today I am excited to share another beautiful, simple and fun technique that can be used with Dreamweaver Stencils - Sparkly Fluff Embossing.  You can give your projects the look and feel of felt without all the fussy cutting!  For textured items like mittens or animals this is an awesome technique.

Supplies Needed:

Once you’ve pulled together your supplies, tape down your paper and stencil. (You can check out our tutorial here on Embossing with Paste for step by step tricks.)

Add your embossing paste to the stencil. Be generous.

Mask off the area for your first addition of fluff.

Add a generous layer of fluff. Press fluff down into the paste.

Move mask and repeat process for additional colors. (This is a little like the Stampedous Painting With Powders tutorial.)

You can do the same process with glitter.

When you’ve added all the colors and pressed them into the paste, shake off the extra (sorry no saving here), and gently remove the stencil.  Touch up any spots with glue and fluff.

Voila!  You’ve created an image with the look and feel of felt, but without having to do all the fussy cutting!

Set the project aside for about an hour to let it dry.  Use this time to wash your stencil so the paste doesn’t harden onto it.  You can also play with the dog, take a nap or have a cocktail.

Final project. Removed glass from the frame so that the mittens’ fluffiness would show.

Close up view of the mittens. Love all the texture.
