Product Review and Giveaway: Simply Scored Diagonal Plate

by Susanna on April 4, 2012

Sometimes wonderful things happen to me. I was asked to do a review of the Stampin’ Up! Diagonal Scoring Plate. They should ask me to drink wine too — it was a no brainer! YES! Send it my way — review coming up.

Check out the video below for instructions on how to make a simple, dry embossed card set, matching envelopes and an easel box. It’s a great gift set — or you can be like me and keep it for yourself. It just looks so festive on my desk :)

Get a cool drink… the video is 20 minutes long and includes 3 projects and a couple of tips.

FREEBIE:  Click here to download the Envelope Template for Photoshop.

Cost saving tip:  Except for one sheet of cardstock, all the papers and stamps in this project are digital!  I purchased them from Stampin’ Up! and printed them onto Epson Presentation Paper.  If you set your printer for Presentation Paper, you won’t believe how amazing the results are.  It’s nice not to have to buy 4 sheets of the same patterned paper just to make sure I have enough, and even nicer to be able to coordinate all the little odds and ends.  The digital stamps are the Just My Type collection, and I color matched them in Photoshop to match the papers.

You do not have to have Photoshop to do this set — SU has their own software (and a free 30 day trial), you could print the images in Microsoft Word, or you could totally do this exact same set with the SU rubber stamps and “real” patterned paper too.  I’m just a computer nerd, so I loved that I could do it this way.  I wanted you to know you have options.

It’s easy to be biased when you get a free product to test, but truthfully, I love the Simply Scored tool and the diagonal plate. My old scoring board doesn’t have the many smaller grooves, so I was always having to do all kinds of math when putting together a more involved project.  The add on plate makes envelopes a snap and the price point is pretty reasonable.Stampin’ Up! sells product directly on their site, but you get a discount if you order through a demonstrator.  I am linking HERE to our forums where Paper Craft Planet demos can link up.  If you are looking a particular product, or want to order this one, I’m sure someone would be delighted to help you.

Here’s the best part, you get to be lucky too.

My friends at Stampin’ Up! have generously offered to let me give away THREE of the Simply Scored scoring boards WITH the diagonal plate! I’m going to give one away to someone who comments here, someone who comments on our Facebook page and someone who pins this post on Pinterest.

Get READY, get SET, GO!

Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Congratulations! This week’s lucky winner is Antoinette Murphy. Antoinette Murphy has won the Stampin’ Up! Simply Scored Scoring Board and Diagonal Plate! Please be sure to contact Susanna Boyd within 30 days to claim your prize and be sure to provide your shipping information so we can get that package out to you! Great looking cards and love your tip on the digital paper. Nice not to have to buy 4 of the same sheet just to make sure you have enough for your project or card. Here you can print as many as you need. Love the look of the scoring on the white card. Texture and me are like two peas in a pod.

I’d love to win a Simply Scored and diagonal plate – I currently have a MS score board and I’m really less than thrilled with it, I must say. Great review and tutorial! Thanks!

I’ve been thinking about getting a scoring tool, but wasn’t sure what one to get. The decision has been made now that I’ve seen this! Recently bought a die to make envelopes on my Big Shot Express, but I’d only be able to make A2 size, but haven’t used it yet. Seeing how easy this is, and how it could be used for other sizes, makes me regret that purchase. TFS the great tutorials, and thanks for giving us the opportunity to win!

How clever of you to make an entire background with the scoring board! It looks great. It reminds me of the texture of an ice cream cone. That scoring board would never gather any dust at my house. I would use it every day. :)
Thanks for the great ideas. Julie K

Love this project, what a nice gift it would make! I don’t have the score plate or the diagonal plate but I will have to add them to my wish list. I can hope that maybe Santa will come super early this year! Thanks for the video, you did a great job.

I love the design of the easel card but would not have thought to add it to the top of a box. It’s a great project and a fabulous gift idea. I’ve not tried Photoshop nor digital paper printing yet – you make it sound easy, maybe I’ll look into that. In the meantime I couldn’t pass up a chance to win this wonderful prize. Thanks for making a great presentation.
