3d150 Challenge: Heart Book

by Susanna on February 7, 2012

For today’s 3d Challenge, I thought I’d make a heart book. This is  inspired by a similar sample I saw in the Heidi Swapp booth at CHA.

heart book

First, use heart template to cut out 6 hearts from different papers. I used raspberry, pink and red. (Sorry for the blurry picture — I was using my iPhone.)

Cut your card base to 8.25 x 5.5. Score at 4 and 4.25.

Score card base as shown

Fold hearts in half. Add glue to one side and adhere to another heart.  Be careful to line up your edges as closely as possible for a clean finished look.  Hearts should fan out like the pages of an open book when done.

When pages are assembled, add glue to outside of heart and then position it as shown against the card’s “spine.” Close the card to adhere the heart shaped pages in place.

Once you’ve adhered the front of the heart pages to the cover of the card, repeat the process with the back.

Hearts should glue together and form a book.

Embellish front of card as desired.  I used Friends ‘Til the End by PTI, and used this card as my inspiration.

Inside view. I’m not quite done embellishing. Are we ever really done embellishing?

Hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial.  Your challenge is to create a heart book of your own.  I filled mine with reasons why I love my parents and am sending as their Valentine. What will you do with yours?
