Saturday Sketch Challenge – with a prize!

by Lynn Mercurio on May 21, 2011

Hi all you crafty people. I hope your week has been a good one and that you are ready for the weekend. I’m ALWAYS ready for a weekend – any weekend. I’m especially excited to be the host for Paper Craft Planet’s Sketch Challenge this weekend.  Let’s get to it, shall we?

Here is the sketch for this week.

I created my project based on this sketch using a wonderfully romantic heart image from Stampendous – Cling Rose Heart.

Beginning with a card base of white, I cut a piece of pink cardstock and stamped the Cling Music Score background image with Tea Rose ink. The cling stamps from Stampendous are deep etched rubber mounted on a clingy plastic that sticks wonderfully to not only large acrylic handle blocks but on just about any hard surface.

I then layered a piece of rose colored cardstock, rounded the two bottom colors and stamped the sentiment on the panel before adhering it to the music background.

Then after stamping the Rose Heart image, I colored the image with a combination of Copic markers and Prima Color Pencils. I then trimmed the image out using scissor snips.

I added a thin layer of stickles on the roses and added a few pink crystals to the image before attaching it to the card using foam dimensional adhesive.  To finish off the project I added three pieces of ric rak.

Now it’s up to you…feel free to interpret the ric rak elements any way that you choose – they can be paper, ribbons, scallops, bling…let your creativity guide you.

We’d love to have you play along this week! If you create a card to share with us be sure to leave your link below!  One lucky person who submits a project will be eligible to win this great background set from Stampendous called Cling Dream Text.

You have until next Friday evening at 9:00 p.m. when I’ll announce the winner.

Thanks for looking in and happy crafting.

I don’t know what happened to the Inlinkz link…I’m looking into it. I won’t close the challenge (in fairness to all) until we can get this resolved. I’m so sorry for this confusion.

I really like your lovely card and the combination of accessories used. The bling and rick-rack are a great combo that I wouldn’t have thought of but the rick-rack gives me the trill of music notes. Thanks for the inspiration!
