Holiday Tips, Tricks and Inspiration: Stampendous Hostess Gifts

by Lynn Mercurio on November 15, 2010

Hi all! I hope you all are enjoying the Stampendous Holiday Inspirations that Paper Craft Planet is sharing with you each Monday, Wednesday & Friday.  Today I’m bringing you a Stampendous Holiday Inspiration project that is perfect as a hostess thank you.

I plan to give this gift set to my husband’s aunt when we visit on Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving is the perfect time to offer a little gift of appreciation and this gift is one that she can begin using right away; a card, along with a gift box of 8-3 X 3 “ note cards, envelopes and a few pieces of chocolate, because we all love chocolate, right?

Stampendous has some FABULOUS holiday stamps for all your festive crafting projects. For my project today, I used the adorable Cozy Cutie Set (CRV213).  I created this see-through box using a great set of instructions designed by Liz Navickas, and you can download a copy of the template right HERE.

To create a project similar to this one, you will need:

Supplies Needed:

  • stamps (Cling Cozy Cutie Set by Stampendous)
  • Memento Ink (Tsukineko)
  • Copics and Colored Pencils/Gamsol
  • Heavy cardstock (9.5 X4-3/4”) for base
  • Patterned Paper (a piece 9-3/4 X 5”) for lid
  • Acetate (for box opening)
  • Cardstock for box liner 10” X 3-1/8”
  • Embellishments such as ribbon or ric rak, glitter, dot sparklers stickers (both from Stampendous), or whatever you have on hand and want to use
  • (8) 3X3” cardstock (for note card bases)
  • (8) matching envelopes
  • Red Line tape
  • Quickie Glue Pen or other glitter adhesive
  • 3 address labels
  • Hershey Chocolate Nuggets

Here is a close up of the box all packaged up.  I used a holly image from the Festive Fluffles set to decorate the address labels that fit perfectly around a Hershey Nugget.

This easy-to-assemble box works perfectly to house a variety of gift cards and make a wonderful pre-holiday gift to someone.  I used some 3X3” cards that I had on hand to create these gift cards by stamping the Cozy Cutie image, coloring with a combination of Copic Markers and Prismacolor Pencils.  Adding white glitter to her hat, gloves and collar gives these little note cards just the right festive touch to an already adorable image.  Each card is made slightly different by adding eyelets, patterned paper or pom pom trim.

I stamped the “Bundles of Warm Wishes” sentiment on the interior of each card, rounded the corners and left plenty of space to write a short note.

I also created a card to go along with the little gift box, using the same image that I framed in a scalloped piece of chipboard that I painted with acrylic paint and adorned with Dot Sparklers.  It’s a great complimentary item to the gift box.

Directions for box:

  1. Cut heavy cardstock (according to the instructions)
  2. Score with a score board or bone folder
  3. Adhere Red Line tape and assemble box
  4. Construct box liner (according to instructions) and place inside box bottom
  5. Stamp design on three self-adhesive address labels and attached to nuggets, placing them in the center space
  6. Create your note cards and place 1/2 on each side on top of matching envelopes
  7. Cut patterned paper for box top
  8. Cut center of box top leaving an opening
  9. Adhere acetate to the inside of the box top

Directions for card:

  1. Cut cardstock for an A2 card, score and fold
  2. Paint chipboard frame with acrylic paint and let dry
  3. Emboss the card front using an embossing folder
  4. Adhere patterned paper and embellishments to the lower part of the card
  5. Stamp sentiment and attach to bottom of card
  6. Stamp Cozy Cutie image onto cardstock and color
  7. Trim around image, cutting around the stocking cap so that it can extend beyond the chipboard frame
  8. Adhere image to the back of chipboard frame
  9. Attach frame to card front using foam dimensional tape for height
